Most researchers don't struggle because of a lack of tools.

They struggle because they don't know which tool fits which stage.

So I organised 72 tools across the full research journey, from finding your first paper to getting published.

𝟬𝟭 𝗟𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗦𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗵 → Elicit, Consensus, Semantic Scholar

𝟬𝟮 𝗖𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗶𝗻𝗴 → Litmaps, ResearchRabbit, Connected Papers JabRef

𝟬𝟯 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 → Zotero, Elsevier | Mendeley, EndNote

𝟬𝟰 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗦𝘂𝗺𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 → SciSpace, NotebookLM, Scholary

𝟬𝟱 𝗪𝗿𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 & 𝗘𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 → Paperpal, Trinka, Overleaf

𝟬𝟲 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗰𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗻𝗮𝗹𝘆𝘀𝗶𝘀 → SPSS, R, JASP

𝟬𝟳 𝗤𝘂𝗮𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 & 𝗗𝗮𝘁𝗮 𝗩𝗶𝘇 → NVivo, ATLAS.ti, Tableau

𝟬𝟴 𝗙𝗶𝗴𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 & 𝗣𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 → BioRender, Canva, Gamma

𝟬𝟵 𝗜𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗴𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆 & 𝗣𝘂𝗯𝗹𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 → iThenticate, ORCID, Crossref, DOAJ

Stage 09 is where many good papers get stuck. A strong manuscript still needs an integrity check, a verified ORCID, and the right journal, ideally one listed in DOAJ or a trusted index.

𝗢𝗻𝗲 𝗿𝘂𝗹𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿:
AI tools speed you up, but they don't replace judgement. Verify every citation against the original source and follow your target journal's AI-use policy.

Which tool would you add to this list? Tell me in the comments.

Save this for your next project and share it with a researcher who needs it.
